ALBUQUERQUE'S FINEST HOT AIR BALLOON FLIGHTS
Albuquerque, and the Rio Grande Valley, is one of the most picturesque areas in all of New Mexico to fly and enjoy a sunrise hot air balloon ride for two. The area was already the site of Native American pueblos when the Europeans first arrived in 1540. Albuquerque, the city, was first settled in 1706, and a couple of hundred years later, the Mother Road, known as Route 66, came through town; and things have never been the same for us since. Albuquerque is bisected by I-25 running north to south from Colorado to Mexico, and I-40 running east and west from Texas to Arizona.
The valley is bounded for most of its length by the Sandia Mountains to the north, the slightly lower Manzano Mountains to the east, and the low, but rugged lava escarpments to the south and west. To the west of the Rio Grande is a lava field and a cluster of dormant volcanoes. At the eastern end of the valley lies the Tijeras Canyon, a rugged and boulder-strewn gorge that opens onto a broad plateau.
You will soon find out that there is a lot to see and do, and there is no better way to start your day of exploration than with a sunrise balloon flight over Albuquerque and the Rio Grande Valley. It was in 1972 that the first Albuquerque International Balloon Festival took flight with 13 hot air balloons. Today it is the largest hot air balloon festival in the world with 600 balloons taking flight daily the first week in October to the delight of almost one million spectators.
Your flight offers you unparalleled opportunities to see lots of New Mexico wildlife. In the Albuquerque suburbs on the Eastside, near the mountains, you could see Deer, Bobcats, Cougars, and sometimes Black Bears. In our prime flying area on the Westside, you could see Road Runners, Bald Eagles, Sandhill Cranes, Jack Rabbits, Coyotes (but not Wile E Coyote), as well as that all elusive Jackalope while on your flight.

NEEDLESS TO SAY, THE CORONAVIRUS HAS IMPACTED ALL OF US, AND IN ORDER TO KEEP YOU, OUR CREW, AND OUR PILOTS SAFE, WE HAVE IMPLEMENTED SOME COMMON SENSE PRACTICES TO HELP KEEP US ALL SAFE.
